Fucked Up Christmas

David Christmas on Ebay

So somebody is selling the Fucked Up “David Christmas” 7″ on eBay.

This record was sold for a charity, and somebody, from Toronto no less (which means I very well could know them), has decided to turn it around on eBay to get probably 4-5 times what they payed for it. Dick move.

If you are this person, maybe you should donate your profits to the George Herman House? That’s where the profits were supposed to go. Not to your pocket.

And this is the thing about eBaying/collecting records these days. Truth is, if people didn’t do this, I wouldn’t own some of the records I do. But they are records I would have been unable to purchase by other means. There were 1000 of these 7″s made, in different variations. The green ribboned ones are the least rare. They have actual labels, and were the ones that were available in any record store in Toronto, and (I’m pretty sure) the ones sold through Insound. It’s the red ribbon ones that were only available at the Christmas show, and they have blank labels. If you didn’t pre-order this, or seriously pursue it, you probably don’t need it anyways.

I don’t see a problem with the increasing value of records. Supply and demand increases value over time, no question. However, I think if anyone is looking to pull this shit, where they are flipping records on eBay only weeks later (this dude is selling his SECOND copy), when the record was for charity no less, their money and presence is better off elsewhere.

Please don’t bid on this record. And if you’re this person, seriously, if you profit, donate it.

Fuck this guy.
