Coles Notes on Monday Night

So again, on Monday, I forgot my camera and there were no photographers in the crowd. Instead of writing a full on review I’m gonna give you a brief run down on Monday’s show.

  • BORED STIFF definitely impressed. Their sound is a bit all over the board but the performance was intense. I hope these guys stick around for a while. It will be cool to see where it goes.
  • COME CLEAN is a band I like. The more I hear them, the more they remind me of early TAKEN or SEARCHING FOR CHIN. Cool to see a band doing something a bit different than most around.
  • MOLESTED YOUTH is another rad, young band whom I hope sticks around. Did a BLACK FLAG cover. Get into these guys.
  • TRUE COLORS were the band of the night. Their singer was all over the place and had clearly spent a lot of time watching old YOUTH OF TODAY videos. He even looked a bit like Cappo. They covered “I Have Faith” and did it really well. If you’re a fan of the youth crew, you missed out if you didn’t see these guys. He had a mean growowowowl.
  • CRUEL HAND closed out the night and it seemed the room thinned out a bit when they played. That said, I’m sure the next time they roll through town it’ll be a bit more packed out. They were incredibly tight and made it evident as to why they’re getting attention these days. Their new record is up for pre-order now. If you’re into the GUNS UP NO WARNING sound, check these guys out.

TRAP THEM tomorrow.
