  • I guest DJ’d and did a longwinded interview on EQUALIZING DISTORT this past Sunday night. You can download a podcast of it RIGHT HERE if you missed it. The playlist was comprised of the following:
    – ALONE IN A CROWD – Is Anybody There/Commitment
    – DISCHARGE – Protest and Survive
    – ANTIDOTE – Something Must Be Done
    – CHOKEHOLD – Content With Dying
    – BREAKDOWN – Labelled
    – ABOUT TO SNAP – Song 3
    – KEEP IT UP – Check Yourself/United Party
    – THE FIRST STEP – As It Is
    – URBAN BLIGHT – What Can Be Done
    – RAH – Piece of Mind
    – NO WARNING – Too Much to Bare
    – COKE BUST – Fuck Bar Culture/Privleged/Because of the Label
I was a bit longwinded, so some stuff didn’t make the cut. You would’ve heard the following: MINDSET, SUPERTOUCH, AMEBIX, HATRED SURGE, FUCKED UP, HAZARDOUS WASTE, EATING GLASS, more NO WARNING, MAD MEN, OMEGAS and FORTUNE TELLER. It was a hell of a lot of fun and thanks go out to Stephe and D’Arcy for having me. I’ll take any soapbox when I can get it. Maybe I’ll do a further review of the experience in the next day or so.
  • Last night, THE EFFORT & I REFUSE played Siesta Nouveaux with BORED STIFF and IN TIME. In brief, THE EFFORT are talented group of young guys playing some epic melodic hardcore that if more kids heard, they would probably really dig. I REFUSE play some post-hardcore that oft gets them compared to early QUICKSAND and it’s a comparison that’s not too far off of the mark. They were tight and aggressive for the set. BORED STIFF was somewhat sloppy and disorganized, but that’s part of their charm. I’m not sure if they lifted a SEX VID bassline or what, but their first songs sounds awfully close to FOOTSTEPS. IN TIME kicked off the night. Their new tracks are a marked improvement from their previous work. They played a shorter set than their known and it helped the performance a lot, in my opinion.
  • In case you haven’t heard, NEGATIVE APPROACH are playing Toronto on July 18th with SUPERTOUCH, THE WRONG SIDE, DAVE SMALLEY and several other bands. It will be part of RADIO SILENCE TORONTO. On top of that, it looks like we’ll be hosting a show on the Friday night as part of it. Stay tuned for the details. It will definitely be worthwhile.
  • We’ve got a bunch of other stuff coming up including all the shows whose flyers you see above. CRUEL HAND/NO HARM DONE, ENERGY, STATIC RADIO NJ/COKE BUST, SICK FIX/HATRED SURGE, MAMMOTH GRINDER and more. Hopefully we’ll see you there.
  • We’re gonna be looking for a lot of help flyering around the city in the coming weeks, so hit us up if you’re willing to provide your time. It’d be incredibly appreciated.

Tell your friends about what’s going on. This summer’s not one you want to skip out on.
